Toshana


Thieves looking to ransom it to his mother stole the egg from which he hatched from its nest. They never quite got to ask for the ransom though for as soon as they uttered, ďDo you want your egg backĒ, his mother burned them to flakes of ash. Itís not wise to be between a mother and her young partially if she is a red dragon. So intense was her fury that every dwelling within a dayís flight of her lair was burnet and destroyed until not a scorched stoned was left standing.

She never found the missing egg though and after searching for it for years, she left it for lost. Ten years past and the egg remained hidden. Where you might ask could it have remained and not be found by its mother. The thieves were clever even if they underestimated the mother. They had hidden the egg under the floor of a shrine to the god Paladine.

And so things began for him one day when an old cleric came to the shrine to start its repairs. The cleric, Rulfread, found the egg and realized that this dragon egg was not going to hatch a normal dragon. This dragon was going to be far different than its brethren, one of the reds though it maybe. So he took the egg to rise as a force for good.

He hatched at last, the fierce hunger driving him toward the nearest food source. Rulfread had foreseen this and had food waiting, food that was cooked, food that was preserved, food that was not raw meat or still living beasts. Instinct was side stepped again and the first food tasted became the food that was preferred.

The years passed and the young red dragon, Toshana he was called, grew in size and strength. Early on in his upbringing Rulfread taught him how to shape shift to an elven form. In that form he was able to go about with Rulfread out causing the problem his dragon form would have. He rejected the idea of becoming a priest of Paladine at that time but instead studied the theories of Arcane Magic and excelled in its practice. Still he longed for other like him and so when he reached the age of about 35, he left Rulfread and the simple life of the clergy and went in search of other red dragons.

He found them, a young clutch of red dragons, the oldest only 10 years older than himself. What he also found was trouble. Not use to the in fighting that is found in a clutch of red dragons he was soon the lowest on in the pecking order. He was not weak and it didnít take him long to learn to fight so it was only a matter of time before he had enough. Picking his time, he challenged the leader and after a fierce battle, won much to the surprise of all.

But that was it for him. He had won. He was the leader. But he didnít want it. The violence he found in his own kind sickened him. He found that he was disgusted with himself for what he allowed himself to become. The teachings of Rulfread had taken deeper root than he had supposed. So he left one night with out a word.

Having spent so much time as an elf, he decided that maybe he should find out what they were like. Shape shifting into elven form, he headed off in search of the Silvanesti. Finding them was harder than finding the dragons. Elves donít really want to be found and though he looked like an elf, he didnít have the mind of an elf. Eventually he found an elven settlement and tried to live with them. He did well for a few years; it took him that long to figure out that they had set the whole thing up to see what he was up to. They knew along that he was a red dragon. But they also found that he was not like other red dragons and that intrigued them. So while he studied them, they studied him. In the end though all was revealed and he left deeply hurt when they failed to completely accept him. However, he did learn much from them and was able to fully come into his own as a spell caster.

Toshana roamed the world of Krynn. He learned much wherever he went weather as an elf or a dragon. The knights of Solamnia taught him to fight as a human or elf and to this day he tends to emulate their fighting style when in elven form. He also embraced much of their code of honor though changing that which was in conflict with his unique abilities. Even so his word is his bond, he will die trying to fulfill his word once given. He will not lie and will remain silent rather than lie. He fights against the forces of evil though he chooses fights he thinks he can win unless he has given his word. And for years, he has kept quite about his true nature unless asked directly about it. Once again, he will remain silent rather than lie about it.

More years passed and he was reaching is 80th birthday when he finally stepped into Niaís Inn. There he met a group that was to change him forever. He met the Lord Elric and Lady Silvara of Dragonskeep, and a cause that he could fight for. He also met his mentor and only true love, the Lady Silverett, the sister of Lady Silvara.

What was their cause? It was the peaceful coexistence of all dragons. The first step was to stop Takhisis from ruling the world. Lady Silverett was a major piece in the struggle of good over evil and when she was threatened by Takhisis directly, he through all caution to the wind and attacked the Dark Queen directly, distracting her just long enough so that he could grab Silverett and whisk her away to a his hidden lair deep under ground within a fallen moon. They stayed there for many months as he tried to help her fight the compulsion to give herself to Takhisis and looking for a cure to the compulsionís cause. Then one morning he woke up to find Silverett gone.

Many things have happened since Silverett left his hidden lair deep with in a fallen moon that lay deep in the earth. In his search for Silverett he traveled all of Krynn. He learned many things in his travels from the teachings of the Knights of Solamnia to the divine teachings of Paladine and the magic of the White Robes Mages, plus the life lessons of the Kinder and Dwarves. 30 years he searched for her before he was strong enough and experienced enough to find the first traces of where she had gone. When he did his fear for her safety was so overwhelming that he fell prone to the floor of his lair and lay there for 2 days. It was then that he received the vision. Paladine answered his prayers. He also partly changed the direction of his life. He took on the mantle of priest hood in favor of Paladine and devoted his life to him, and the search for Silverett and her salvation.

He started his religious studies as he continued to fret out her location. First off he found where the moon came from. Its source stunned him so hard that it was a week before he was able to fully take hold of the knowledge. When the 3 moons above Krynn were set as prisons for the 3 gods that gave magic back to its inhabitants, Takhisis had tried to entrap Paladine in a forth moon. Held briefly, Paladine escaped sending the moon crashing to earth. In doing so, he left the smallest part of himself behind. An echo of his essence of you will. The metal the moon was made of took on many of his attributes during his brief stay and so became a source of building material for a unique set of divine items. His suit of armor and weapon being the best examples. The armor protects him like a full suit of plate would but has the flexibility of padding. His sword is more fantastic. Forged by the silver hammer of Reorx into what was first going to be a Dragon Lance, the weapon changed shape even as it lay cooling on the forge, shifting form from one weapon to another until he picked it up. At that point it shifted into a bastard sword, his favored weapon style. Thus it remains until he is in need of a different weapon, it then shifts to fit his needs. Even back to the form of a Dragon Lance. The sword had inscription on it. One side is the word Justice and the other side has Mercy. Words that he now lives by.

Ten years past before he was given a way to go after her. In that time he grew stronger in fighting skill, magic and devotion to his god. Elric and Silvara taught him much and finally was the key to his ability to travel the planes in search of Silverett. Though late to help him, he was finally able to understand that if they had given him what he needed sooner, it would have been his death toll. Armed with the hard won knowledge of the planes, he shifted to his first one and started his search.

More years past for him as he continued searching, time spend on different planes differed from time on Krynn. Years spend elsewhere were only days or months on his home plane. Many were the task that he found to do in his travels, each needing to be done in order to continue his search. Until at last he found himself only days behind Silverett on a world of such evil that it was all he could do to escape it. He did and now finds himself in an inn and has once again missed Silverett, this time by only a day.
